Running brings people together in all sorts of ways, and we’re delighted to be sharing some very special news from within the club.

Huge congratulations to Abi Cooper and Jamie Moore, who recently got engaged whilst on holiday in Italy! 💍🇮🇹

Jamie chose a truly stunning location to pop the question, proposing at the top of Cinque Torri near Cortina d’Ampezzo, surrounded by incredible mountain views and making for a moment they’ll never forget. ⛰️❤️

We’re absolutely thrilled for you both and wish you every happiness as you start this exciting new chapter together.

💙💜Congratulations from everyone at Bourne Town Harriers! 💙💜

  • 💙💜 Bourne Town Harriers – Weekly Round-Up

Another good week of training and running for Bourne Town Harriers.

Tuesday’s club session saw members head into the woods for 800m efforts. With our summer training now in full swing, there were some great efforts put in by everyone.

Throughout the rest of the week, members continued with their own individual training plans, getting the miles in and building towards upcoming races and events.

Saturday saw several Harriers at parkrun:

    📍 Ferry Meadows

    – Michael Gilbert – 30:58 (incorporating parkrun into a longer run)
    – Richard Burton – 32:38
    – Alison Burton – 38:59 (also part of a longer run)

    📍 Long Eaton

    – Giles Hawthorne – 21:35

    📍 Melton Mowbray

    – Simeon Adams – 26:17

    📍 Rutland Water

    – Tony Gilbert – 20:47

There were no club races on Sunday, but there was still plenty of activity. Alison Burton took on a MiniROX event, consisting of eight 400m laps with exercises between each lap, providing a different challenge from the usual road and trail running.

Well done to everyone who trained, raced, volunteered, or simply got out and enjoyed their running this week. 💙💜

  • 💙💜 Bourne Town Harriers – Weekly Round-Up

Another busy week for Bourne Town Harriers with plenty going on across both the senior and junior sections.

Tuesday saw our senior club night out in the woods for Kenyon Hills. Throughout the summer months, our training moves into the woods from the Green on Beech Avenue, and despite the hills everyone put in some great effort.

During the rest of the week, plenty of members continued with their own individual training plans and miles. Our Thursday evening runs pause over the summer, with several members also taking part in cycling events and training alongside their running.

On Friday evening, our juniors met at Bourne Grammar School for another strong training session, with great attendance and effort from all involved.

Saturday brought a lovely joint senior and junior social run, before everyone headed over to The Sugarmill afterwards for our presentation evening and club awards.

    🏆 Senior Awards

    – Matt Bills – Frostbite League Trophy & Winter Series Trophy
    – Abby Cooper – Female Frostbite League Trophy & Female Winter Series Trophy
    – Richard Burton – Club Handicap Trophy (hosted at Christmas)

    🏆 Junior Award

    – Alfie Fleming – Frostbite Performance Award

A huge well done to all our award winners — thoroughly deserved.

Sunday then saw plenty more racing, with our juniors taking part in the Deeping Fun Run, while the seniors were out at the Deeping 10K. Meanwhile, Matt Bellis headed over to Wales to take on the Barry 10K.

Another brilliant week for BTH with lots of training, racing, social running and club spirit throughout. 💙💜

  • Donations given for Equipment upgrade

A huge thank you from Bourne Town Harriers to Jake Reed of Reeds Sonar Consultancy Ltd for an incredibly generous equipment donation of over £750 to support our junior running and athletics section.

The donation has gone towards training equipment, which will be used regularly at junior sessions to help develop skills, confidence, and a love for both running and athletics. Support like this has a real impact on what we can provide for our young athletes.

We’re extremely grateful to Jake and Reeds Sonar Consultancy Ltd for backing grassroots running and athletics and supporting the future of our club. 💙💜

  • 🟣💙 Bourne Town Harriers – Weekly Round-Up

    🏃‍♂️ Tuesday — Club Night: 400m Efforts

Tuesday’s session was all about 400m efforts. The evening turned out warmer than we expected, but everyone knuckled down and put in some brilliant work. Strong pacing, good form, and a great atmosphere across the group.

    🏃‍♀️ Thursday — Tempo Session

Thursday was our tempo night — usually a slightly smaller group, but always a committed one. Plenty of focused block running and solid consistency from everyone who came along.

    🏞️ Saturday — parkrun Highlights

A few of our runners headed out to parkrun this week, with some great performances:

Giles Hawthorne – Bedworth parkrun in 26:52

Alison Burton – Rutland Water parkrun in 35:48

Michael Gilbert – Rutland Water parkrun in 24:51 (Course PB!)

Richard Burton – Rutland Water parkrun in 31:35

Fantastic running from all of you, especially with that course PB from Michael.

🏃 Sunday — Easy Miles & Own Training

No races on Sunday, so most people headed out for their own steady miles. A nice way to round off the week and keep the legs ticking over.

  • 🟣💙 Bourne Town Harriers – Weekly Roundup

🟣💙 Bourne Town Harriers – Weekly Roundup

Here’s a look at what’s been happening this week at BTH…

    Tuesday Night – 1K Efforts

The colder weather didn’t stop us this week, and everyone who made it down put in some brilliant work on the 1K efforts.
A few members were caught up in travel issues, but it was great to see people still getting out for their own runs when they could. Commitment like that really shows!

    Thursday – Tempo Session

Thursday’s tempo run was another strong session in the bank. Great pacing, great energy, and solid teamwork all round.

    Parkrun Saturday
A few Harriers were out and about at parkrun:

    Ferry Meadows
    Michael Gilbert – 31:28
    Richard Burton – 32:29
    Alison Burton – 36:23

    Pocket
    Giles Hawthorne – 22:21 (15th place!)

Well done to everyone who got their Saturday miles in.

    Sunday – Hereward Relay

On Sunday, we had four teams out at the Hereward Relay — such a fantastic event and brilliant team atmosphere as always. Amazing running from everyone involved.

We then rounded off the day with a lovely social at The Sugarmill to celebrate the relay.

And a huge congratulations to Gillian, who was announced as the recipient of our London Marathon club place for 2025!

  • 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️ Bourne Town Harriers – Weekly Run Report 🟪🔵

This week delivered another strong block of training for the Harriers, starting with a brilliant turnout on Tuesday night for an 800m effort session. The squad showed real consistency and resilience across every rep.

Thursday shifted the focus into a tempo-style workout, working through bigger, sustained blocks of running to build strength and rhythm. A solid performance all round with great commitment from everyone who attended.

It was a quieter weekend on the racing front, with most members following their own training plans — but we still had some fantastic representation at various parkruns:

    🌳 Ferry Meadows
    • Michael Gilbert – 30:27, Position 242, Gender 179
    • Richard Burton – 30:59, Position 248, Gender 184

    🌳 Rutland Water
    • Simeon Adams – 22:29, Position 30, Gender 26

    🌳 Thonock Lane Farm
    • Giles Edward Hawthorne – 23:42, Position 6

Fantastic running from everyone who laced up this weekend — great variety of courses and strong performances across the board.

Another productive week in the bank. Let’s keep pushing forward, team! 💪🟪🔵
